SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Management Private Limited is a joint venture between the State Bank of India (SBI), Macquarie Capital and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The company’s main purpose is to manage the SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Trust (SMIT).

SMIT provides qualified institutional and professional investors located in India with access to the growing number of investment opportunities available to the private sector in India’s infrastructure and infrastructure-like assets. SMIT is currently in the process of being established and is expected to have total commitments of $US500 million upon its closing in August 2010. SMIT has received an in-principle approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its registration as a Venture Capital Fund (VCF).
